Biography

As Marketing Assistant for the University Museum of Zoology, Cambridge, I am responsible for raising awareness of the Museum, encouraging people to visit the Museum and attend our programme of events.  I plan marketing campaigns using printed posters and leaflets, digital marketing including social media and PR. I represent the Museum on the University of Cambridge Museums Marketing group. I work with marketeers across the University to promote the Museum to the widest possible audience.

Background

Having studied marketing & advertising in Bristol, I started my career in an advertising agency in Marlow, working as an Account Manager - managing clients across a variety of sectors, marketing both high profile consumer and business to business products. I then moved to the ‘client side’ to become the Marketing Manager for a national high street retailer, with over 400 stores, working on both advertising campaigns in the national press, sales promotions, managing all the in store print material as well as creating extensive PR campaigns.

After working in the private sector for many years, I transferred to a large district council where I became the Communications and Marketing Manager, covering not only the council’s core services but also five council operated leisure centres. I was responsible for managing both internal and external communications, increasing awareness and managing expectations of council services and dealing with the media on any council related issues. I managed a team of people, experts in social media, PR, print production and issue management.
