Pieridae – The whites and yellows
These species are relatively large and are usually seen roaming through gardens and the countryside, rather than settling in one location. Some of the best-known species are colloquially called ‘cabbage whites’ as their caterpillars use this vegetable as their foodplant. A reliance on our crops has given us a love hate relationship with these butterflies.
