Modern records
As in Jenyns’ day, the scotch argus cannot be found in Cambridgeshire. This species is mainly confined to damp grasslands in Scotland, with a couple of populations also being found in northern England. The butterfly can withstand cold temperatures but has been declining in the warmer southern parts of its range.
