Notes from Jenyns: This species is not mentioned in Jenyns’ notebooks.

200-year trend in Cambridgeshire: No change.

Modern records

As in Jenyns’ day, the scotch argus cannot be found in Cambridgeshire. This species is mainly confined to damp grasslands in Scotland, with a couple of populations also being found in northern England. The butterfly can withstand cold temperatures but has been declining in the warmer southern parts of its range.
