  • Group Visits

The Museum is a great place for a group visit and we can offer a range of different options and facilities to suit the needs of your group.

Self Led Tours

If you are planning to bring a group of 10 or more for a self-led tour, please book in advance.

When we have events taking place or at especially busy times, we may not be able to accommodate group bookings. Please book in advance, so we can let you know whether your visit is possible.

Pre-booking your visit helps us to control numbers within our spaces to ensure a positive museum experience for all. There is no charge, unless you require a guided tour, but donations are welcome and directly support our learning and outreach work.

All group visits must be booked at least two weeks in advance. Please do not arrive at the Museum without a booking confirmation as you will not be admitted. During the Cambridgeshire school term we are unable to accept large groups during the morning, but welcome groups after 14:00.

Please note that the maximum group size is 30 people. If your group is larger than 30, please let us know when booking, so that a suggested timetable can be made for your visit.

Museum Tours

For adult groups, we are able to provide an introduction to the Museum and tour of the galleries. This is dependent upon staff availability, and must be requested when booking. Please note that there is a charge for this service.

Audio description and touch tours

The Museum of Zoology education team lead audio descriptive and touch tours as part of the University of Cambridge Museums ‘Making Sense’ tours programme. This service is also available to blind and partially sighted groups, if requested when booking.

EFL Students and Schools

The Museum does not have the resources to offer taught sessions for EFL students. However, teachers are welcome to provide self-led tours for small groups and to make use of the learning resources available, to ensure that students get the most out of their visit. All groups must book two weeks ahead using our language school booking form.  Please do not arrive at the Museum without a booking confirmation as you will not be admitted. Please make sure that students under the age of 18 are accompanied by an adult. We require a minimum ratio of 1 adult to 8 students when visiting the galleries.

Please note that any unbooked groups may be refused entrance.

Download and print our Animal Key Trail ahead of your visit. It has been designed with students aged 11+ learning English as an additional language in mind: Animal Key Trail Download
