Cambridge Urban Safari - 23 June 2018

Book onto a wildlife workshop and discover the diversity of animal life on your doorstep.

Unless otherwise stated, these workshops will start at the Urban Safari meeting point in the courtyard outside the Museum.

Early Morning Bird Walk

7.00-8.00

Join us bright and early as we discover the bird life living in Cambridge. We will gather at the Museum of Zoology, from where we will venture toward the river, listening to the early morning bird song and looking to spot the birds of the green spaces in Cambridge city centre. Please wear sensible footwear and be aware that we will walking over uneven surfaces near the river. Waterproofs are advised in case of bad weather. Please bring your own binoculars if you have them.

Suitable for ages 8 and above. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Owl Pellet Dissection

Owls swallow their prey whole and 'sick-up' a pellet. Sounds gross but it's only fur and bones (no squishy stuff) and looking at the bones tell us what the owl had for dinner. Join us in some real forensic science and learn about the mammals available in the owl's feeding area. Workshop leader: Ian Harvey.

Suitable for ages 6+. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Spider Safari

Minibeast Hunt

Search for insects and other minibeasts in Cambridge, from gardens to the concrete jungle around the Museum of Zoology.

Snail and Slug Safari

Join the Museum's Curator of Malacology, Dr Richard Preece, and explore the wonderful world of snails and slugs that you can find in your garden or outdoor space. This workshop includes looking for snails in their natural environment, and a guide to identifying some of the most common species.
